Savannah Irish History Tour

Experience the Irish influence in Savannah from street names such as McDonough to Irish flags flying. Start in Lafayette Square learning about Flannery O'Connor and the Scottish connection to the Girl Scouts. Walk inside the glorious Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist built in 1873 which was recently designated a minor Basilica! Learn about the Old Fort area where many Irish immigrants settled in the 1800’s as well as Yamacraw and Frogtown on the westside. On this tour we see 5 historic squares and end in beautiful Emmet Park beside the Celtic Cross. After you will have an in-depth understanding of why the Irish immigrated to Savannah and what their experience here was like. This tour is very family friendly!
